Time to get them cleared?
- Grass or small plants growing out of the gutter
- Water pouring over the edge instead of down the pipe
- A downpipe that gurgles but nothing comes out the bottom
- Drips continuing hours after rain
- Green staining spreading down the wall below a run
- You can see the moss ridge from the pavement
Croydon’s street trees are lovely right up until October. Any of these and the gutters are due.
What we actually do
A clean that’s actually a check-up
The blockage comes out by hand and scoop, moss, leaves, tennis balls, the lot, bagged and taken off your property, not hosed onto the drive. Downpipes get flushed through until water runs, because a clean gutter into a blocked pipe is half a job.
While we’re up there, roofer’s eyes on everything at that level: joints, falls, brackets, the felt edge, the bottom tile courses. You get told what we found in plain words, including “all fine up there”, which is what most people hear.
If something does need attention, whether that is a split joint, a dropped run or a rotten board, that is gutter repair and replacement work rather than cleaning, and you get a straight answer and a written price if you want one. No ladder-top hard sell: the clean you booked is the clean you pay for.
Every visit includes
- Gutters cleared by hand along every run
- Downpipes flushed and proven running
- Debris bagged and taken away
- Joints, brackets and falls eyeballed while we’re there
- A plain-words report of what we saw
- Moss on the roof itself flagged only if it’s a real problem
How the quote works
A straight answer, in writing
Photos first if it’s a repair; a proper look if it’s bigger. Either way the scope and the price go to you in writing, itemised, before any work starts, and the person quoting knows the crew doing it.
How we quote, in full →Our work
Straight off the crew’s phones
No staged shoots. This is what the work actually looks like mid-job and finished. More lands here as jobs wrap up.

What drives the price
What actually moves a roofing quote
House size and runs
A terraced front-and-back is a different visit from a detached with garage, extension and conservatory runs.
Height and access
Bungalow gutters are quick; anything over conservatories or at three storeys takes proper access.
How overgrown
A yearly maintenance clean and a small hedge growing out of the gutter are honestly different jobs.
We don’t publish ballpark figures: a number invented without seeing the roof is exactly the doorstep trick this page exists to avoid. What we will do is put a real one in writing: here’s how the quote works.

Questions
Straight answers
How often should gutters be cleaned?
Once a year suits most Croydon houses, after the leaves are down. Under big street trees or behind pines, twice. If nothing’s overflowing and the walls are clean, you’re probably fine to wait.
Do I need to be home?
Usually not, if we can reach the gutters safely from outside, we can do the job and send you the plain-words report after. We agree it all when you book.
Do you clean conservatory and extension gutters?
Yes. They block faster than the main roof’s gutters and overflow straight onto the glazing. Mention them when you message and they go on the same visit.
What if you find a problem up there?
You get told what it is, shown a photo where that helps, and given a price in writing if you want it fixed. What you won’t get is drama at the top of a ladder. That trick is exactly what this trade is infamous for, and it’s not how we work.
