What we actually do
Stripped to the deck and rebuilt properly
A re-roof done right starts with everything off: tiles, battens, felt, back to the timbers. The timbers get checked and repaired. That’s the moment to fix a century of quiet movement, and the reason a proper quote states a timber contingency instead of pretending surprises can’t happen.
Then it’s built back up: breathable membrane, new battens set to gauge, and your choice of covering: concrete tile, clay, natural or man-made slate. Ridges and hips bedded or dry-fixed as the roof and the exposure demand, leadwork renewed where it meets walls and chimneys. Which covering you pick is one of the biggest things moving the final number, and what actually drives a new roof price is worth reading before you compare quotes.
You’ll know the schedule before we start, scaffold goes up and comes down on stated dates, and the site gets left tidy every night. You live there; we just work there.

Size and pitch
More roof and steeper pitch mean more materials and slower work. Two houses on one street can price very differently.
Covering choice
Concrete tile, clay and slate sit at different points on cost and lifespan. We lay out the honest trade-offs for your roof.
Hips, valleys and dormers
Every junction adds cutting, leadwork and time. A plain gable-to-gable roof is the simplest job there is.
Scaffold
A full re-roof needs proper access all round. It’s quoted as its own line so you can see exactly what it costs.
What the strip-off finds
Rot and worm only show once tiles lift. The quote states a contingency and the rate, so even that has no surprises.
Waste
A roof’s worth of old tiles and felt has to leave site legitimately. It’s in the quote, not added after.

A repair doesn’t come with a written warranty, and we tell you that before we start, not after it rains. If a repair isn’t worth doing, we’d rather say so.

Straight answers
Do I actually need a new roof?
Maybe not, and we’ll tell you if you don’t. Plenty of roofs written off on doorsteps have another decade in them with the right repair. The roof check settles it with evidence: photos, the state of the felt and battens, and a written recommendation either way.
How long does a re-roof take?
It depends on size, pitch and weather, so we won’t invent a number here: the honest answer goes in your quote as a schedule, with the scaffold dates stated. What we can say: you stay living at home throughout, and the roof is never left open overnight.
What does the 10-year warranty cover?
Our workmanship on the new roof, in writing. If something we built fails in that time, we come back and put it right. Materials carry their manufacturers’ own cover on top. What it isn’t is a vague verbal promise: you get the terms on paper with the completion paperwork.
How do payments work?
A deposit of 20 to 25% books the job, the balance goes in stages tied to progress, scaffold up, mid-fix, completion, and it’s all set out in the quote before you pay anything. Bank transfer.
